How to Set Up IPTV in 3 Steps

Setting up IPTV is the same on almost every device. You install a player app, you give it the login from your IPTV provider, and the app loads your channels, TV guide and on-demand library. The app itself comes with no channels; your subscription supplies them. Here's what each step involves, and further down you'll find the exact steps for your device or app.

Before you start

Your IPTV login. After you order or request a free trial, you receive an Xtream Codes login (server URL, username and password) or an M3U link. Keep the message open on your phone while you set up.
A compatible device. A smart TV, a streaming stick, an Android box, a phone, a tablet or a computer.
A stable internet connection. About 25 Mbps for steady HD, more for 4K and live sports. A wired connection is best.

Step 1: Install the right player app for your device

Step 2: Enter your IPTV login

Most apps ask you to choose between two login types. Xtream Codes (sometimes called "Xtream Codes API") uses a server URL, a username and a password, and it loads the TV guide, movies and series automatically. Use it whenever you have it. An M3U link is one long web address that contains your channel list; paste the whole link in one go. Apps for Samsung, LG and Roku, such as IBO Player, work a little differently: they show a MAC address and a device key on the TV, and you add your login on their website from your phone.

Step 3: Load your channels and test

The first load takes from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, depending on the size of your playlist and your device. Then open a few live channels, check that the TV guide shows programs, and start a movie. If you're on a trial, test during a live game in the evening, when servers and home networks are busiest.

Common setup mistakes

A typo in the server URL. A missing "http://", an extra space at the end or a wrong port number is the most common reason a login fails. Copy and paste when you can.
Mixing up the username and password. Both are case-sensitive.
Downloading a copycat app. Many apps have names close to IPTV Smarters. Get each app from its official store listing or website only.
Buying the wrong Fire TV Stick. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select and newer sticks run Vega OS and can't install IPTV player apps.

Download the App: IPTV Smarters Pro is no longer in Google Play or the Amazon Appstore. Download it from the official site, iptvsmarters.com (on Firestick, through the Downloader app). On iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, install Smarters Player Lite from the App Store.

Get Your MAC Address: Open the app. You will see a Device MAC Address and a Device Key on screen. Take a photo of this.

How do I set up IPTV?
